Shaun Gear has joined our Stewardship Group to support the goal that every young person in Aotearoa can get work, keep work and grow in work. He brings more than 20 years’ experience connecting education, community and employers across the motu.

Shaun founded Gear consultancy, which supports projects across secondary, tertiary and work-based learning to make pathways clearer for rangatahi, especially those who don’t always see themselves in the “traditional” route. Shaun actively works across communities and industry. He has been on the NZ Game Developers Association Board, was a Founding Board Member of Neurodiversity charity, and is currently on the Industry Advisory Board for Native Tech a PTE who are based in Rotorua. He is known for bringing schools, whānau and employers around the same table, promoting skills and employability, not just qualifications, designing practical, local programmes that reflect Te Tiriti partners and diverse communities.

As a Stewardship Group member, Shaun looks forward to strengthening school–industry connections and advocating for continued systems change.
